The Museum was opened in 1963 when the Brazilian Industrilist Francisco Matrazzo Sobrinho (Cicillio Matarazzo) decided to donate all his and his wife's collection to the university of Sao Paulo. This Museum has one of the largest collection of 20-th century Western Art and has more then 8000 art works.
